Associate Spotlight – Cammy Hansen

Cammy Hansen, SVP – Senior Commercial Banker

What’s a challenge you’ve faced at work that taught you something valuable? I think we all know that challenges are part of life and work nearly every day, but it’s helpful for me to remember that with every challenge comes a learning experience. More specifically, I’ve dealt with some problem loans over the past year or two and have learned many lessons: creative problem solving, empathy, communication skills, risk management, collaboration, and some things I’d rather not have learned: navigating the foreclosure process, garnishment processes, and the significant time spent managing and navigating through these types of things.

What’s a recent example of great team collaboration you’ve experienced? July was a really busy month for me, and I have been grateful for the support from many folks; as the saying goes, “it takes a village.” I could never do what I do without the help of our fabulous NBC team, from our credit folks to IT to management. I would especially like to give a shout out to my Commercial Loan Processor, Alyssa Adamscheck. She handles a very large workload with grace and professionalism and is always eager to assist however possible (and is great at dealing with a high-strung banker 😊).

What’s a skill you’ve developed recently that you’re proud of? I’m a firm believer in self-development. I listen to a lot of audiobooks and podcasts to help me be a better banker/friend/parent/person. For example, I’ve recently listened to Mel Robbins’ book, The High 5 Habit. The book encourages you to give yourself a “high five” in the mirror every day to set a positive tone for the day ahead.  I know, it sounds cheesy, but it works!  The book also talks about the good habit of making your bed every morning (which, I’m ashamed to say, I’m not great at).  Since I’ve listened to the book, I’ve made my bed every morning!

If your job had a theme song, what would it be? I have two: “Takin’ Care of Business” by Bachman-Turner Overdrive and “She Works Hard for the Money” by Donna Summer.  You younger folks have probably never heard of either!
